21 Crofton Lane is a fast flow enablement unit for people with Learning Difficulties and Mental Health Problems who may display behaviours that may challenge the service and is located ten minute walk from the sea in Hampshire.
The home has a public bus-stop at the front gate which gives easy and ready access to local community facilities such as colleges and recreational centres
The service offered at Crofton Lodge is for individuals over the age of 18.,
We expect that placements will last from between two and three years with emphasis on developing the persons daily living skills in a supportive and dynamic environment with a view to achieve a more independent placement for the individual.
The core objective is the preparation of people to live an independent lifestyle as much as possible with assessed and agreed positive risk considerations.
There are six en-suite beds for the enablement unit and they all have kitchenette facilities for preparing cold meals and storing some basic food items i.e. cereal, sandwiches, tea, and coffee making materials etc.
Service users will be encouraged and supported to plan, shop and cook their own meals.
With support, the service users will be encouraged to do their own laundry, clean their own rooms, managing their own finances and self medicating.
Two of the rooms will be set out as individual flats with their own external door, with a bedroom and a lounge area. These will also have their own showers.
Our approach will focus very much on enabling the service user to be as independent as possible from as soon as they are admitted.
Each room will have an individual drug cupboard to enable the service user to begin to self medicate as soon as possible. We will also have a lockable cupboard for the service users finances in the bedrooms.
Crofton Lane will also offer three supported living beds and these will be available as a clearly separated facility from the residential service arrangement on one side of the house.
Although they are within the home, these rooms are in a different part of the building and they feel separate from the enablement unit.
